Growth task force to meet Aug. 28

A growth task force of school officials, county leaders and community residents will meet 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 28 at the Eanes-Pittman Public Safety Training Center, 6610 Public Safety Way. The task force will hear a best-practices presentation by a representative of the public school system of Wake County, N.C., and review alternatives to bricks and mortar including results from a parent survey.

Co-chaired by Dale District School Board representative David Wyman and former Virginia Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. JoLynne DeMary, the task force is charged with preparing recommendations for the Chesterfield County School Board relative to the school division’s long-range planning and budget processes, alternatives to building new schools and providing input for the county’s comprehensive plan update. The group will meet through October and is scheduled to make recommendations to the School Board in November.
