Budget information and meetings

Work is beginning on the budget for fiscal year 2011, which covers the 2010-2011 school year.

A series of community conversations about the budget is taking place through Nov. 23. The first two community conversations were held at Matoaca Middle School and Elkhardt Baptist Church. Here is the remaining schedule:

· Nov. 5 at Meadowdale Library from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

· Nov. 5 at Elizabeth Davis Middle School from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

· Nov. 6 at Chester Baptist Church from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

· Nov. 16 at Clover Hill High School from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

· Nov. 17 at Salem Middle School from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

· Nov. 19 at Manchester High School from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

· Nov. 23 at James River High School from 7 to 8:30 p.m. (this meeting has just been added to the previously announced schedule)

School Board members and Board of Supervisors members continue to meet as the Budget and Audit Committee. Meetings are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 12, 1 p.m. on Nov. 17 and 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 9 in Room 502 of the Lane B. Ramsey Administration Building, 9901 Lori Road.

The Chesterfield County School Board will hold a budget work session from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at the School Administration Building, 9900 Krause Road.
