Come Home Alive is for teen drivers and their parents

Teens and their parents are invited to a safe driving program called Come Home Alive.
With the goal of reducing car crashes and saving lives through education and parent awareness, the program brings together parents, students, school officials, law enforcement representatives and community members. Stressing the influence that parents have on teen drivers, Come Home Alive complements the driver education course taught in high schools. Topics at Come Home Alive include coaching tips for parents, an overview of the driver education curriculum, traffic laws governing teen drivers, insurance and safety reminders.

At every high school, students and parents have been invited to attend a Come Home Alive meeting. Parents of 10th-grade students are the main focus of each two-hour meeting, but parents with students in other grades are also welcome. Each session runs 7-9 p.m. in the school auditorium:

●    Oct. 5 at Matoaca High
●    Oct. 8 at Meadowbrook High
●    Oct. 12 at Manchester High
●    Oct. 14 at Bird High (includes Chesterfield Community High)
●    Oct. 19 at Thomas Dale High
●    Oct. 26 at Cosby High
●    Nov. 4 at James River High
●    Nov. 9 at Midlothian High
●    Nov. 11 at Monacan High
●    Nov. 24 at Clover Hill High

Sponsored for the fourth year by the Chesterfield County school system and police department, Come Home Alive is made possible by a $10,000 grant from the Allstate Foundation.
