Nov. 10 public hearings scheduled for technology master plan and revised policy manual

The Chesterfield County School Board invites community members to comment during a public hearing on the technology master plan for 2010-2014 and during a public hearing on comprehensive revisions to the School Board policy manual.

Both documents are available online at chesterfield.k12.va.us, and both public hearings will take place during a 7 p.m. meeting Nov. 10 in the Public Meeting Room, 10001 Iron Bridge Road.

The technology master plan will replace the current technology master plan. The plan covers five years, subject to annual review and updates. Community members may e-mail ccpsinfo@ccpsnet.net if they have comments about the technology master plan.

Community members may e-mail policy@ccpsnet.net if they have comments about the policy revisions, which grew out of a 2008 curriculum management audit that found many policies were out of date or vague. The revised policy manual is the result of months of work by the Superintendent’s Advisory Policy Review Committee made up of community representatives including parents, teachers and school administrators. The revised policies seek to capture current practices, update old policies and make the School Board policy manual comprehensive and usable.

People who wish to speak during a public hearing are asked to contact the School Board clerk at 748-1497 to add their name to the speakers list. Each person may speak up to three minutes during each public hearing.

During its Dec. 8 meeting, the School Board is expected to vote on the technology master plan and the revised policy manual.
