Chesterfield schools open Sept. 8


On Sept. 8, more than 58,000 students will begin the school year in Chesterfield County Public Schools, the fourth-largest school system in Virginia and one of the 100 largest school systems in the United States.

Superintendent Marcus Newsome, School Board members and Board of Supervisors members will visit several schools on opening day. Here is the superintendent’s schedule:
• 7:30-8:05 a.m. at Midlothian High (Midlothian District)
• 8:15-8:50 a.m. at Swift Creek Middle (Clover Hill District)
• 9:05-9:40 a.m. at Manchester Middle (Clover Hill District)
• 9:55-10:30 a.m. at Gates Elementary (Dale District)
• 10:40-11:10 a.m. at Curtis Elementary (Bermuda District)
• 11:30 a.m.-12:05 p.m. at Matoaca Elementary for lunch (Matoaca District)
