- Impact Aid
Beginning in October 2009, Chesterfield County Public Schools will conduct an annual survey to determine the number of students whose parents are either serving in the military or are employed on federal property. This information will be used to obtain supplemental grant funding from the US Department of Education under Title VIII of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, also known as the Impact Aid law.
Impact Aid was designed to assist local school districts that have lost property tax due to the presence of tax-exempt Federal property or have experienced increased expenditures due to the enrollment of federally connected children. Funds become part of the school system’s general operating budget and support instructional activities for all children.
Following are links to Dr. Newsome’s letter to all parents in the district informing them of the data collection, a link to the survey form itself that you can download and print if you need another copy, and a link to the federal US Department of Education’s website on Impact Aid.
Please be assured that all information collected in this survey is confidential and will be used only for the stated purpose. No individual information regarding children or adults is provided to the federal government. The Impact Aid grant application provides only collective information on the numbers and locations of federal employees whose children attend Chesterfield schools.
Thank you for your assistance in supporting the work of Chesterfield County Public Schools.
