PTA Vision
Making every child's potential a reality.
PTA Mission
· A powerful voice for all children,
· A relevant resource for families and communities, and
· A strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child.
What is a council?
A council is a group of local units organized for promoting PTA/PTSA issues within a certain boundary. In the Virginia Congress of PTAs, we have approximately 114 councils.
A council operates under State PTA approved bylaws (just like a local unit).
Most importantly, a council is the first line of defense, support, and assistance for local PTA/PTSA units, as well as the most important source of guidance and information.
A Message for Parents/Families
As parents and families responsible for the health, education, and welfare of children, we are faced with the greatest challenge and gift of life! The good news is that we are not alone. Chesterfield is a great community of caring citizens, the school system is forever reaching beyond excellence and the County Council of PTAs/PTSAs is a direct partner in helping our children see their potential become a reality. So, join us and enjoy the benefits of:
*Getting Connected. There is no better way to know what is happening in your school.
Discover Great Resources. The PTA/PTSA offers a variety of programs designed for parents as well as students.
Tap into a Network. Parenting is not easy-it helps to share ideas, concerns and experiences with other parents and educators in the community. PTA/PTSA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind.
Watch Yourself Grow. By volunteering with your PTA/PTSA, you gain valuable experiences. It is an opportunity to put your skills and hobbies to good use for a good cause-your child and all children in the community.
Speak Up. Because the PTA/PTSA is a forum for exchanging ideas, you are encouraged to make suggestions. PTA/PTSA can be a way for you to effectively suggest change at your child's school.
Witness Improvement. By getting involved at your child's school, you will be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. Local PTAs/PTSAs play an important role in fundraising to provide building improvements, curriculum-based programs, and social events-all vital to a school's success.
Be a Role Model. By becoming a PTA/PTSA member, you'll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.
Best wishes on a great school year!
