Dianne Pettitt
Clover Hill District
Chair


Dianne E. Pettitt has represented the Clover Hill District since 1993. She was chair of the first elected School Board in 1995. She serves as chair for the fourth time this year.

A graduate of State University of New York at Albany with a bachelor’s degree in French education, Mrs. Pettitt also has a master’s degree in foreign language education from Syracuse University. She served on the staff of a General Assemblyman in Albany, N.Y., and subsequently taught French and Spanish for six years in Syracuse, N.Y.

She and her husband, Neil, have two daughters. One graduated from Monacan High School and the other from the Governor’s School for Government and International Studies. Both daughters are married and live in Virginia. The Pettitts have six grandchildren.

Mrs. Pettitt tutored and served as a substitute teacher in Chesterfield County for several years before being appointed to the Clover Hill School Board seat. She has kept her teaching license up to date and in 2007 completed a series of graduate courses to add certification to teach English as a second language.

For the past 10 years, Mrs. Pettitt has represented Chesterfield County on the Regional Board of the Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School. She has completed the yearlong LMR leadership course, the FBI Citizens’ Academy and takes an active interest in the Virginia School Boards Association Academy and Sycamore Presbyterian Church.
