Marshall W. Trammell Jr. has represented the Bermuda District on the School Board since 1991. He is currently serving as vice chair for the fourth time and has served as chair three times. A 39-year resident of Chesterfield County, Mr. Trammell earned a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech. Before retiring on Jan. 1, 2008, he worked 37 years for the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. His career included managing Virginia’s gypsy moth control programs and pesticide certification and training programs. Mr. Trammell currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School for the Arts and Technology and served on the founding Board of Directors for the Governor’s School for Government and International Studies, where he co-authored the bylaws for the school. He has also served on the boards of the Metropolitan Educational Research Consortium and the Mathematics and Science Center. He is married to Pat Trammell, who was a teacher for 31 years before retiring. Their son, who graduated from Bird High, works at the World Court. The Trammells are members of Sherbourne United Methodist Church where Mr. Trammell teaches Sunday school and serves as chair of the Church Council.
